Top 10 of 2011

I love year-end Top 10 lists.

I feel I can get a good review of year bygone and check-in to see if I happen to miss anything important.

In that spirit I had the top 10 blog posts (based on comment and shares) pulled for you:

Be a ROCK STAR Presenter (Pt 2 of 3)
Based on important advice I gave to an executive team of a mid-size company to improve their ‘State of the Union’ address. Can help you improve any presentation you give.

THANKS-Giving Challenge
Of all the awe-inspiring stories I get about how The Compound Effect made a difference in someone’s life, this is the concept that has had the most impact. This is something you can do ANY time of the year with equally life-altering results.

MONEY, MONEY, MONEY (1 of 3)
The cause and fix to all your money problems. Be sure to see post #3 too. Why the Rich Get Richer One of the most important distinctions I made all year.

Knocked on Your Tush (Part 1 of 4)
When you get knocked on your tush in life, how do you get back up so you are not knocked OUT. How to Be a Loser It’s best to learn what losers do so you don’t accidentally end up one!

You Can Be Right or Happy…
I paid dearly to gain this insight. Let me save you the pain, read this one!

Get IN the Game
Oh, it’s definitely a good time to review this post!

Now Explode Off the Starting Line
If you have any goals you want to achieve in 2012, this post will be very valuable to you.

The Overachiever vs. The Superachiever (1 of 4)
The difference between Richard Branson, Tony Hawk, Donald Trump and me (and probably you).

8 Shocking (and Hilarious) Social Media Gaffes More people need to read this. Send this one to all your friends – before they hurt themselves, permanently.

The Year in Review & Moving Forward Into 2012

Hello, my Friends,

This has been a busy, exciting and challenging year, especially after my cancer and treatment in 2010, accompanied by a dramatic decline in the business market for speaking and training services.

Fortunately, I try to practice what I preach by bouncing back from temporary difficulties and launching new programs and services. “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.”

The biggest concern facing most people this year, and for years to come, is money- how to get more of it, get out of debt, and build financial independence, both for individuals and businesses.

We therefore developed 7 new 12 hour CD programs to help our clients to produce, sell, market, manage, and make more money. It is called the “Made Simple” series. They are:

Business Success Made Simple
Business Start-Up Success Made Simple
Sales Success Made Simple
Management Success Made Simple
Time Management Made Simple
Personal Success Made Simple
Wealth Building Made Simple

Each program includes access to our online video training programs, plus PDF versions of the notes, plus application exercises.

We launched our “Total Business Mastery – The 3-Day MBA Program” in 2011 and presented it to several hundred business owners and entrepreneurs. It is so powerful that participants start to transform their business within a few days.

I just returned from presenting this program in Shanghai in November for 380 participants @ $3000 per person. They want me to come back and give it 10 more times in China, all over the country. My clients are already booking me to present it in Europe in 2012 as well.

This year, I set a goal to visit my 100th country, which I achieved in December when I spoke in Vietnam. I was all over South Vietnam during the war, but this was my first time back since then. What a difference! Ho Chi Minh City is modern, booming and full of life and energy.

In both the Spring and the Fall, I spoke all over Europe several times, including four days in Russia. I am already booked all over the world again for 2012.

We also relaunched our “Power of Personal Achievement – The Phoenix Seminar” in 2011, where participants learn how to unlock their full potentials for success and achievement.

We also began our 3-day intensive “Brian Tracy’s Speaking Academy,” where we teach people how to speak in front of any audience, and get standing ovations.

My family is in great health and doing well in each area of life. My daughter Christina has opened her own practice as a Family and Personal Psychologist, is having her third child in February, and we have co-written our first book together, “Kiss That Frog – Turning Negatives Into Positives.” Her husband Damon is busy and successful, as are their children, Julia and Will.

My son Michael is the chief marketing and sales executive for a high-tech company in San Diego, and doing very well. His two years in direct selling have made him a real selling professional. His lovely wife Tasha is expecting their first child in February, as well. I will be a grandfather twice more!

My son David and his wife Sara both graduated from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas this year, David in June and Sara in December. I flew straight from Bangkok via LAX to be there. David is now a specialist in Personality Assessment and Individual Motivation.

My daughter Catherine is in her third year at the University of Miami. She served an internship at the Heritage Foundation in Washington this summer. She is doing well and is also with us in Hawaii.

My lovely wife Barbara and I have been married 32 years, and it just keeps getting better and better. We took an Alaska cruise in July to celebrate our anniversary.

As always, we resolve to make this New Year, 2012, the best year of our lives, and you should as well. Remember, the future is only limited by your imagination. And since your imagination can have no limits, your future can be unlimited as well.

Best wishes to you!

Brian

Four Questions that Will Help You to Stay on Track in 2012

The past and the future

“New Year’s eve is like every other night; there is no pause in the march of the universe, no breathless moment of silence among created things that the passage of another twelve months may be noted; and yet no man has quite the same thoughts this evening that come with the coming of darkness on other nights”
Hamilton Wright Mabie

The year is coming to an end. Just two days to go. But before we head into 2012 I want to share four questions that you can use so that you don’t lose your way next year.

Have a happy, awesome and meaningful New Year!

Is this useful?

This is a good way to for example weed out thought habits that may not be so useful. Your mind may for instance fool you into believing that it’s the right thing to go around being angry at someone because, well, you’re right. Or that it’s right to dwell on a problem because you had such bad luck or was singled out.

Both thought patterns are quite seductive because they can fool you into believing that you are doing the “right” or “normal” thing. But are dwelling on such thoughts useful to you? Probably not. That will just create suffering in your life, waste your time and do little to solve a practical situation. By asking if something is useful you can stop yourself while heading down a negative path and turn around towards the light again.

What is the most important thing I can do right now?

If you are lost in what to do next in your day, week or life, ask yourself this question. The answer might not always be what you want to hear because the most important thing is often one of the harder things you want to do too. But it can help you to check your priorities and stop you from getting lost in busy work and instead start tackling the really big stuff.

Am I keeping things extremely simple?

It’s very easy to start to overcomplicating things to, for example, find excuses for not doing something or simply because is a regular thought habit of yours.

Overcomplicating things can bring anything to halt. Or make it much harder to get something done.

So I like to ask myself this question a lot. By questioning how I am going about things or how I am planning to go about things with a project or a situation I can declutter my plans and thoughts. And this makes the process of working towards and reaching my goal a whole lot simpler.

I may not always find an extremely simple solution or path towards what I want. But I can pretty much always make things simpler and easier by asking myself this question.

Is there anyone on the planet having it worse than me right now?

When I am stuck on focusing on the negatives, when I feel like a victim and like things are going against me I ask myself this question.

The answer may not result in positive thoughts, but it can sure snap you of a somewhat childish “poor, poor me…” attitude pretty quickly. I understand that I have much to be grateful for in my life.

This question changes my perspective from a narrow, self-centred one into a much wider one. It helps me to lighten up about my situation. After I have changed my perspective I usually ask another question like:

What is the hidden opportunity within this situation?

That follow-up question is very helpful to keep your focus on how to solve a problem or get something good out a current situation. Rather than asking yourself “why?” over and over and thereby focusing on the negatives and making yourself feel worse and worse.

TLBT Video #72Brand You: Three-Minute Apologies

We add another video to The Little BIG Things series on YouTube. In the spirit of the coming New Year, it offers, perhaps, a suggestion for change you might plan to make in the year to come. According to Tom, one of the most important practices you adopt should be the apology. Three minutes, BIG impact.

You can find the video in the right-hand column of this page or watch it at YouTube (time: 1 minute 49 seconds). Or, get a PDF transcript of the video’s content: Brand You: Three-Minute Apologies.
